Family Fun
Big Bear offers so many year round activities for families to enjoy together. Everything from movies to mini golf, to exciting mountain biking or a lake cruise on a pirate ship.
Snow Play and Amusements
If you are seeking an alpine adventure but so not ski or snow board then consider visiting the Grizzly Ridge tube park at Snow Summit
Magic Mountain Alpine Slide/Snow play
This is a fun place that we used to take our children too, now we get to take our grand kids. They have an Alpine slide, water slide, snow play area with night time glow tubing, go karts, mini-golf, and arcade.
Big Bear Snow Play/Go karts
This place is close to Bear Haven and offers a great snow play area with a magic carpet to go up the hill. In summer they have great Sodi RT8 Karts that go up to 30 MPH and run through a course that’s a fifth-of-a-mile long.
The Time Bandit (Big Bear’s very own pirate ship)
Go for a tour of Big Bear Lake on our very own pirate ship. Prepare to board and cast sail around the lake where you will learn about the history of Big Bear and the surrounding areas. This is a great thing to do with the family. Great entertainment and if you are lucky you may even get to go by the home of Bugs Bunny and his pals.Time Bandit, the Big Bear Lake Pirate Ship, is a 1/3rd scale replica of a Spanish Galleon and was built by a Father and his Son from the late 60’s through the 70’s in their back yard.
It was then used in the 1981 movie release “Time Bandit.” Later it was used as a tour boat in LA Harbor, and Newport Beach at the Fun Zone. The last part of the Ship’s life at the ocean was as a private residence.
Then it was purchased by Ed & Kelly Kinsley, refurbished, modified a bit to include more passengers, and moved to Big Bear Lake to operate as a tour boat. It took 28 different permits and 2.5 days to transport the Ship from Dana Point Boatyard to Holloway’s Marina where it is presently berthed!
Big Bear Alpine Zoo
Big Bear Alpine Zoo
This is a must see zoo. All the animals at the zoo are rescue animals that can no longer survive in the wild. All kinds of animals from bobcats, to birds, to grizzly bears, to snow leopards are on view. This zoo is amazing and personal to us at Bear Haven, There is a great horned owl there named Mason, we discovered him in our backyard one morning. A human had injured him, so we brought him to the zoo and they gave him care and a place to live out his life. Bear Haven Cabin has been a proud supporter of the zoo for many years now. Less than 10 minutes from Bear Haven. We are long time supporters of this zoo.
The Village Theater
It is with great sadness that we have learned the theater will be closing its doors with the passing of the owner in February of 2024
A fun little mini golf place that goes fluorescent day-glow at night. See their Yelp page for information.
The Bowling Barn
Our local bowling alley
The Discovery Center
The Discovery Center is a great place to take the family (It's Free too) Gentle hiking trails surround the center and inside you can speak to a forest ranger and learn about the local flora and fauna. There is also a paved walk/bike trail that start at the center and run along the north shore of the lake.
Magic Mountain Alpine Slide/Snow play
This is a fun place that we used to take our children too, now we get to take our grand kids. They have an Alpine slide, water slide, snow play area (in winter), go karts, mini-golf, and arcade.
