There is nothing like summer in Big Bear. The days are warm and the nights are cool, and there is just so much to do outdoors from boating to hiking, mountain bike riding to laying out on the decks of Bear Haven. Here is our list of things we have done and enjoyed plus other places you might want to try out
On The Lake
There are several places to rent everything from a canoe to a luxury pontoon boat.
Big Bear Marina
Big Bear Marina offers the following: Pontoon Boats, Fishing Boats, Kayaks, Stand Up Paddle Boards, Wave Runners, Wakeboarding, Skiing, Wake Skating & Tubing. They also have a lake tour on an old fashioned paddle wheel boat.
Captain John’s Fawn Harbor
They have the following: Boats, Kayaks, Canoes, and Paddle boards plus they have the outrageously fun Tarzan boat.
North Shore Landing
They have the largest fleet of Jet Ski – Pontoon Boats – Wake Boarding – Tubing – Kayak Rentals on Big Bear Lake
Holloways’ Marina
They offer the greatest variety of water going vessels on the lake, everything from kayak’s to full fishing boats. They offer fishing tours and the one and only Pirate boat cruise of Big Bear Lake.
Jet Skiing
Jet skiing
At least once a year we go jet skiing out on the lake. There is nothing like flying across the water at over 40 mph. The wind and water spraying into your face and your loved one holding on to you tight. My son and I go racing around and chasing each other from end to end. Just be sure to obey all laws and signs as Big Bear Lake patrol is always on it (don’t ask how I know)
Fishing
Big Bear Fishing
They provide 3 hour fishing trips on beautiful Big Bear Lake. Trips are on our pontoon boat where you fish for Rainbow Trout, or choose to fish on our tournament style bass boat and cast for large and small mouth bass.
Both boats loaded with the latest fishing gear, fish finders, live well, trolling motor, and more. We have friendly guides who will help as little or as much as you would like. Drinks and snacks included.
Around the mountain
Moonridge Golf Course

Mountain Biking
Big Bear Mountain resort offers a great place to ride a chair lift up to the top of the mountain and ride back down. They offer everything from beginner trails to the most challenging expert runs. You can also have lunch at the top of the mountain while enjoying views of the valley below.

This is a unique company that offers a wide range of outdoor experiences for visitors. You take a relaxing Segway tour around the valley, A thrilling Zip Line tour through the trees, Snow shoeing in the winter through the forest, they also offer fly boarding on the lake, and tree rope climbing. My son and I have done the Zip line tour and WOW what fun. They shuttle you out to the middle of the forest, provide you gloves and safety gear, then you can rocket down 9 different zip line all through the trees.
